Formative Internal - Senior DVC

I have been with the Year 11,12 and 13 students for a few weeks now. Time for a Formative! They have only a term left for their externals and it is time for them to get some feedback for the work they have done so far.

The HoD and myself will work through their work and give them all feedback.

This has not been recorded as the feedback was written and taped to the front of their workbooks. BUT, it took a looonnngg time and whould be acknowledged.

Overall, these main points came up over the year levels and I will work to improve these for next years cohorts:

Year 11:

- Sketches need Crating, thick and thin lines, rendering.

- More views needed in their drawings. A range! (2 point, 1 point, isometric, oblique, ortho)

- Decisions need to be written down

- Title the pages to make the process easy to follow

- Page layout - very jumbled

- Need to use design terminology more

- Obvious links need to be made to the insperation (even if this means gluing a copy of the research item to the page where the concept has been created)

Year 12:

- Decisions need to be written down

- Title the pages to make the process easy to follow

- MORE WORK

- Diverse exploration of ideas, usually only one idea has been chosen

- Functionality exploration lacking

- Constructional details limited

- More range of view points in sketching

- Obvious links need to be made to the insperation (even if this means gluing a copy of the research item to the page where the concept has been created)

Year 13:

- Decisions need to be written down

- Title the pages to make the process easy to follow

- Obvious links need to be made to the insperation (even if this means gluing a copy of the research item to the page where the concept has been created)

- MORE WORK MORE MORE MORE

- Concepts limited

- Exploration very linear, no divergence or manipulation / exploration. This needs to be taught to the students at a lower year level

- Limited knowledge of Design principals
