So, the problem in my year 10 class was that they seemed to struggle with freehand drawing and rendering. URKGH.

This makes life diffifcult because next year they need to get these skills under control for their Level One course - which I am writing right now and taking into consideration their skills and abilities as I write.

So, for 3 weeks we did a unit on speakers and at the end of it started a render using chalk pastel. Not the best media, it was a hard material to use and took a week longer than scheduled. Anyways, the outcome was awesome and I am super proud of what the students have created. Overall the students struggled and found the process hard, but I think that they truly enjoyed the result at the end of it all.

Next time I will get them to render the same thing 4 times, and use four different mediums and we can do a comparisson. Ie: chalk pastel, pencil, water colour and graphic marker. Also, they will be smaller so that it does not take as long.

Here are the results! Unit plan attached somewhere on this blogging site.
