Fun lesson - Year 9 horrors

After a harrowing 3 weeks on the last project, we are starting a new project in year 9 tech.

For this one, I am trying my new method after experiencing what I would consider major failure from the last 2 units.

This time around I am going to:

- Introduce the topic with vigour, and lame cheese ball music

- pump them up with cool facts and explaining the topic

- creating a simple, CLEAN project that is no frills and majorly easy to understand

- Go through each step of creating a brief together a a class

- time limits on everything - put the pressure on to get shit done

How it went: (review after 2 weeks on the project)

- Introduction went well kids are enthusiastic.

- slowing down the pace and going through the process step by single step was very successful

- kids understood the project easily

- kids understood how to get a brief out of a situation - the situation was super clear and easy

- Students are bored of the project, they are over the computers

- students are trying, and are trying to learn a new programme

- one student in particular is doing an AMAZING job on sketchup

- Students are acting up because they are sick of the computers

- I will need to create a diverse lesson plan with them. One lesson a week outside the classroom somehow.
