PRT notes - 19/11/2015

1. Brief discussion about reports and prize lists. Each PRT should talk with their HoD about what the requirements are.

2. Have a think about who you would like as a curriculum mentor. I am keen for each PRT to have one of these - if you require (?) a general mentor also (which could be great. It could be me) then let me know. If you are happy for me to be that person - just give me a heads up.

- 9I literacy focus

• Variety of strategies: tic tac toe, comic strip, free writing, story bits, scaffolding

• Could also try The Guardian One Stop but often needs some pre-teaching

• From Inquiry year 9s will get a taster across each of the techs in 2016

• Use of e-Tech has led to improved engagement of boys in Fabric

• What spoon-feeding means in Tech

• Has been investigating how much scaffolding the kids need after first group was immobilised with indecisiveness

• Concern about how to find the point at which kids can make best progress on their own

• TPU as group. Does a safe, secure environment improve attendance which in turn will lead to increased achievement ?

• Anecdotally – yes but there are other factors as well such as study skills, self-management etc

• In 2016 for Inquiry we will buddy up within the PRT group which should facilitate more discussion and collegiality.
