- Student comes in class and is immediately off task / playing around. Teacher confronts the situation immediately and loudly and tells him to push his chair in and sit down NOW. Student looks grumpy but walks over to find a chair and sits down quietly.

- Student has forgotten a book, the teacher tells him that he needs to be more responsible and bring his equipment to school.

- Teacher addresses the class and tells them what they need to get out of their bags and what they need to get out for the lesson. One student complains they are bored and the teacher responds that they are bored because they have not bought their stuff to class.

- Teacher counts down from 5, and the students are quiet at the end of the countdown. Student is dent out because they are still talking.

- Teacher discusses the previous days behaviour and goes through the effects of bad behaviour on the whole school and the whole year level. Teacher congratulates the good ones, and the bad ones are told to shut their mouths and told they need to be quiet and listen and make it up to the rest of the class and how their bad behaviour reflects on everyone.

Teacher tells the loud students to shut and they are quiet. They are told they need to wait in at interval and write an apology letter.

- Teacher talks about the positive aspects and has a positive conversation with the students that were well behaved the previous day. The disruptive students are talking again, and the teacher tells them to shut their mouths because they have spoken enough the previous day.

- Teacher tells the students that they have been a bit dodgy on their region naming test. The students are working on their work while the teacher is discussing the things they need to do to improve.

- Students are talking and working well. Teacher tells them a story about her pigs and they are listening and chatting away with her. Teacher is centre force of the room and the students are respectful toward her.

- Class starts a quiz together. Students with a water bottle immediately get three points for having this. Class has a relaxed atmosphere. All behaviour is monitored and quickly confronted when it is unacceptable. The lights go off and students quieten down. Students are engaged and working on the quiz. Teacher asks students to read the questions, but if they yell out no, then the teacher will read out the question. No embarrassment.

- Teacher reads the questions of the quiz with vigour and accents. Students are quiet and engaged with the content. Teacher has a loud voice that works well to get the attention of the students.

- teacher quickly goes through the answers with the class, they are slow and complain for her to slow down. She yells at them to wake up and they quieten down and continue to follow her instruction. As soon as another student starts to talk she confront them with a funny joke and move on.

- teacher seems to have the students in a seating plan. The noisy ones are the front so she can watch them. She talks to them quietly and gives them pens when they seem to be running out.

- teacher tapes the student to the chair when they cannot sit still. There is a little laughter and the student starts to undo the tape but does not go through with it.

- Students are talking over the teacher, so she throws an egg at them (a rubber one). They giggle and quieten down. Students are working well with the quiz, and they seem to be enjoying themselves. student who is taped to the chair speaks out again and the teacher get into his face. He stops, and sits back down to keep working. The students are now working on the next section of the lesson which is a workbook - they are looking through their books and answering the questions.

The whole lesson is based on group work.

Heavily timed activities keep the students on task.

- Students start to make cow noises and the teacher does not acknowledge them. the noises stop after 3 times, It is interesting to note how the students do things for attention and will eventually stop when they are not noticed.

Teacher sits down with a group and helps them out with their work. One of the students in the front group growls the other one for making noises because they all might get punished.

- teacher goes through the answers with the class as a group. Good way to check answers and give the students a chance two share.
