After getting the NCEA results from my 2015 classes, it was quite a shock to see that the top students were not receiving top marks.

Nationwide, this seemes to be a pattern in all schools. The DVC forums were going off with angry comments from confused teachers.

This of course, gets me worried. Does the difference in marks mean that I have been marking them to easily? Does it mean I misunderstand the standards? Does it mean I have no idea what I am doing?

Our PRT mentor Karen and I had a meeting about this issue. We discussed that it happens every year, and that it is nothing to worry about.

It was good to get the reassurance, but that still does not change the worry or the stress of the results. Mostly, I feel bad for my students :(

Oh well, time to eat a concrete pill and try harder next year!
