My year 10's are always complaining that they do not like Graphics and that it is boring. I am struggling to get them engaged and happy as there are alot of different levels of experience in class, and even a few kids who give up too easily and do not try.

It has been a hard class to suss out, and the only work they seem to respond to is the personal design work. I know the kids love this work, and that they thrive off the individual elements of learning, but they need to learn the skills before they design something. After a discussion with my PRT mentor, she has suggested again that I do something fun with them. Graphics is a fun subject and I am horrified that these kids are not having fun.

So we are going to do a lesson today on textures and colour blending.

Reflection of the lesson: The lesson went fairly well. Students picked up on the method easily, and with the visualiser this exercise it was easy to present. I was happy with how the kids picked up on the wooden texture especially, and the colour blending went quite well. The thing that could be improved for next time would be to do with how the colours are mixed on paper. The kids are getting the basics of the blending, but when the two colours meet in the middle they need to lessen the pressure of the pencils and I will need to enforce this next time.
