Year 9 DVC

10:05 - Entered class students are doing a DVC review. Students are working independently, review has been introduced to the class.

- Review is proposed to test the students knowledge of the subject so far. Students have finished the test and are handing in the completed tests. Students are friendly and sitting down patiently at their desks. Quite a nice calm atmosphere.

- Teacher gathers in the tests and addresses class. Teacher waits for quiet. Teacher declares that the next task is an individual test where the students are tested on what they have learnt so far. Images of different views and questions of any other basic skills they have covered in class.

- Teacher explains the test, most students are listening and following along with the instructions. Teacher enforces clarity and communication of the answers.

- Test will take 10mins, then they will move on. Teacher asks if there are any questions. Students begin test, students are silent.

- Teacher encourages students to try their best in the test.

10:19 - Students begin to finish the test and are handing them into the teacher. Teacher walks around to collect the tests. Students get their projects and continue with their project work when they are finished.

11:05 - Students pack up and the teacher collects all work back as he holds onto it. Students leave the class.

What I took from this observation:

- The test is a great idea. This is a good way to gather info on how the students are doing and for the good ones it offers a chance to get their ideas affirmed.'

- The students that want to do the work will always do the work. There were plenty of students in the class that were not interested and getting them to get the stuff done seemed very difficult.

I will implement the little test and see how everyone goes!
