Donna presented her findings on feedback at staff meeting today. It was interesting to hear what she had to say, and the one thing I took away from it is that praise is important - and I agree.

Interesting too, is that large print, A4 feedback worked best.

I am going to try this in my classes a little more, especially in the classes that are hard work, ad often it is easy to get caught up in a negative mode due to behavioural issues.

Here are some notes I took while she was presenting:

Donnas Presentation

Feedback

- Effective feedback should address three main questions

1: Where am I going

2: How am I going

3: Where to next

Manageable feedback: “Chunk things down”, feedback in stages as opposed to barf it up (stout 2016 KISS principles in education : strategies for education of kids dumber than a sack of hammers Hodder Collins ISBN 223550)

Feedback overall improves the outcome of students achievement, but not so much the style of feedback presentation.
