After assessment this year, I have seen the following improvements due to a change in my teaching style:

- Students have more detail in their ideas regarding construction and use. The designs make more sense than last year, and the exploded and detail sketches communicate much more info for the external sketching standard.

- Students are annotating more

- Students are creating very cool designs. The method of ideation this year seemed to work alright, it was similar to last year but this time there were checkpoints.

- The checkpoint after the concepts made all of the students catch up and the forced movement in class (ie we are not working on concepts for the rest of class time) forced students to actually develop their ideas.

- This is good scaffolding for development next year, as I have forced the kids to think about construction.

- Since quite a few of the students are from the woodworking class, I have made an effort to connect the two classes in here. The students that are from the woodworking class are demonstrating a good understanding of construction.

- Overall, only one NA, and this is from a very low ability student (drawing and literacy ability). He will have the chance to re-submit. A few of the kids who should have got excellence and did not will get the chance to re submit also, and will have a little workshop to analyse their designers works for development opportunities.

- Next time I teach this, I will enforce the checkpoints even more. Also, the lake trip helped with the kids developing their ideas to a logical conclusion as they have seen the area and analysed the site.

COOL!
